To avoid the disclosure of "secret sauce" information relating to design and development at Ubiquiti, process information shared in this case study is limited and many details have been omitted.

Like all other quality work, nothing is accomplished alone. No designer on a team should work in isolation. This work should also be credited to the Ubiquiti Design and Development teams as well as Shane Miller who carried UniFi Protect before me and Priscilla Nishiyama Kohlman who picked it up after.

Overview

UniFi Protect was designed from the ground up with a focus on user-experience. Our goal is to create a network camera platform that could operate at scale with a small hardware footprint, providing a low-cost initial investment to customers while offering the remote connectivity convenience of cloud based systems.

Considered by many tech reviewers and security experts to be the best-in-class home and small business security solution, UniFi Protect boasts unparalled video quality, local storage, modern security features and unrivaled speed. It is the solution that tech enthusiasts deploy in their own homes over competing products like Google's Nest and Amazon's Ring.

“I left Nest for Ring about 7 years ago. I left Ring for UniFi this summer. UniFi is head and shoulders above both.” a UniFi Customer on Reddit
